Emotions: Fascination, Intrigued, Amazement, Curious, and Awestruck
I’m a natural creator. I’ve been focused on the concepts of self-awareness and laws of the universe. I have been painting since childhood. I use color, brushstrokes, and layering to display on paper what emotion I am experiencing.
I enjoy the freedom of expressional art by using rapid paint-handling, indistinct shapes, large rhythms, broken color, uneven saturation, and pronounced brushwork.
I am fascinated with human anatomy, especially the eyes. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from talented ophthalmologists, optometrists, and ocularists during my career which modeled this iris series. I have been comparing the pupil and iris to a remarkable cosmos phenomenon, the creation of black holes.
The resemblance and functionality of the iris compared to a black hole is uncanny.
My research in astrophysics for this project taught me that these exploding stars are found in each individual, notably carbon. It’s fascinating to look into someone’s eye and engage with the building blocks of existence.
It’s astounding to look up at night and fathom pupils in the sky.
