A National Historic Landmark, Greenbelt is the most successful and intact example of the U.S. governmen's efforts to address the nation's shortage of low-to moderate income housing the 1930's and one of three orignal greenbelt towns created by teh New Deal. Greenbelt retains its original pllan, as well as several outstanding examples of Art Deco architecture.
