2008 Cultural Heritage Tourism Conference

WHAT: Join the ATHA (Anacostia Trails Heritage Area), Inc. and partners for its second regional conference on the business and practice of cultural heritage tourism --moving from vision to practice.  The one-day event will bring together a panel of experts to highlight how the cultural, historic and natural assets of a community can be used to stimulate economic revitalization, resource protection and sustainable redevelopment in older and more established communities. Attendees will benefit from presentations on funding, partnership-building, program development and marketing initiatives that have been used to encourage and promote cultural heritage tourism in communities in the region and around the country.  Public and private organizations interested in starting tourism-related businesses in any of Maryland’s Heritage Areas (MHA) will hear from a panel of experts about available funding opportunities and tax incentives for businesses and projects that contribute to the tourism-readiness of heritage areas.
